Alan and Katherine Neckowitz and Mary Turner

The Neckowitz/Turner Study Abroad Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 to honor Alan Neckowitz and Charles Turner, who were instrumental in founding the James Madison University Summer in Ireland Study Abroad Program. The purpose of the gift is to assist with the expenses of at least one School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) major studying abroad each year.

The first priority would be students in the James Madison University Summer in Ireland Program. If that program were inactive, then any of the other James Madison University International Programs could be considered. If SMAD is renamed or restructured, then the unit that contains communication and/or journalism would; be the one whose students would be assisted. Control of expenditures from this fund will reside with the scholarship committee of SMAD or the department containing mass communication and/or journalism in coordination with the head of the academic unit containing those programs.
