Ali B. Kahil

Ali B. Kahil set forth a path for JMU to become a Welcome Corps institution. The student recipient must be an undergraduate in academic good standing and submit a 500-word essay describing an experience overcoming adversity or lived displacement. In May 2023, JMU became an official chapter of Every Campus A Refuge. As the 14th ECAR chapter nationwide and only the second in Virginia, after Old Dominion University, JMU is expanding its support of compassionate refugee resettlement. Ali established the Kahil Family Scholarship Fund in December 2023.
