Alpha M. Spitzer ('37)

Alpha M. Spitzer (’37) established this scholarship in 2001. Alpha graduated from the College of Education with a BS in Secondary Education. As a student, Alpha was participated with the Field Hockey. She lived on Main Street across from campus. She had two aunts who attended the school, also. After graduating, Alpha taught in Rockingham County. She then pursued a career in banking in Virginia. She was honored for her career and relationship with JMU with the Humanitarian Service Award from Bridgewater Retirement Community in 2005 and a Bluestone Medallion from JMU, respectively. This scholarship is awarded to a student from Rockingham or Fairfax County, Virginia who is a Mathematics or Science major in the secondary education program.
