Jean Wampler

In 2008, Jean Wampler Cash established Jean Wampler Cash Fund for the David Hallman Award for Excellence in the Study of Southern Literature. With an Endowment Agreement signed October 1, 2015, Ms. Cash closed the fund account to establish the Jean Wampler Cash Scholarship Endowment to perpetually fund the David Hallman Award for Excellence in the Study of Southern Literature.

Like the fund account, the purpose of the endowment continues to provide financial resources annually to one or more outstanding undergraduate junior or senior scholars who demonstrate exceptional achievement in the study of Southern Literature and who plan to attend graduate school. JMU’s
Department of English will make the selection of a qualified student. Beyond this criterion, the appointment of a student as a Hallman Award Scholar shall follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
