John and Mary Donovan

The Donovan Family Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence in the College of Business was established in 2010 by John (‘83) and Mary Donovan (’83). The purpose of the gift is to provide funds in support of academic and leadership excellence in the College of Business. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be an incoming freshman who demonstrates an intention to pursue a major in the College of Business. Once a student is named a Donovan Scholar, this scholarship may be renewed for up to three consecutive years if the recipient remains a student within the College of Business and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Selection of recipients will be made in a manner determined at the discretion of the Dean for the College of Business, based on the following criteria: recipients must be in-state students, have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and rank in the top 25% of their graduating high school class, demonstrate quality extracurricular experience and service in areas including, but not limited to, clubs, community service organizations and activities, or athletics, and enroll in general Business Administration courses leading to admission to the College of Business.

Financial need is not a consideration in the selection of a Donovan Scholar. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of Donovan Scholars shall follow the university’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
