Dr. John B. Noftsinger, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

An endowed scholarship established by friends, colleagues and faculty members to honor and memorialize Dr. John B. Noftsinger, Jr., a special person and an outstanding individual. At the time of Dr. Noftsinger’s passing he was the Vice Provost for Research and Public Service and held the rank of Professor in the Department of Integrated Science and Technology and the School of Strategic Leadership Studies. John’s accomplishments at JMU were many and varied. In particular, John was a co-founder of the Information (now Intelligence) Analysis program. He served as an original faculty member for the IA program.

This scholarship endowment will provide financial resources for one or more outstanding undergraduate student scholars in the Intelligence Analysis program within the Department of Integrated Science & Technology at James Madison University. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) after at least four semesters of study. The selection of Dr. John B. Noftsinger Scholar(s) will be made in a manner determined at the discretion of the Head for the Department of Integrated Science & Technology (or its successor department). Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of students to receive this scholarship will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
