Mark Facknitz Outstanding New English Major Award

An annual award established with gifts honoring the retirement of Dr. Mark Facknitz.

The scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria as developed by the English Department:

-Student must be taking ENG 299 during the academic year the award is presented.
-Student should show exceptional promise in this course.
-Student’s overall GPA should be above 3.0
-Student must be continuing (rising sophomore, junior, or senior)

Nominations are made by faculty teaching the course in any given year and the Awards and Scholarships Committee considers those nominations and consults with faculty who made the nominations, reviews transcripts, and speaks to faculty in other ENG courses the nominees may be taking.
