Rising Stars Endowment in the Arts supporting Undergraduate Professional Development in the College of Visual and Performing Arts

An endowed scholarship established by The Charles Daniel Curtis, Jr. (’82) Family. This scholarship will provide funds annually to support undergraduate students who engage in pre-professional performances, exhibits or research outside of JMU and may be used to support student attendance at a national/international forum, conference or competition.

As to the selection of students as Rising Stars Scholars, the appointments shall be made each year by the Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts in consultation with the Directors of the three Schools within the College. The Donors’ only specific criteria is that students considered for this award shall have demonstrated academic excellence and a competitive drive to develop professional experience (as reflected in recommendations provided by faculty members on behalf of candidates).
