Lisa Persson Helms '87 Scholarship Endowment for Mathematics
An endowed scholarship established by Charisse Daly ‘87Kleinman.
This endowment will provide financial resources annually to one or more students entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must (a) have a declared major in Mathematics, and, (b) have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) after at least four semesters of study (at the time the student is considered for this scholarship.)
The selection of Lisa Persson ’87 Helms Scholars shall be made in a manner determined at the discretion of the Department Head for Mathematics in the College of Science & Mathematics (or its successor college). The donor acknowledges that the Department of Mathematics will determine the number and amount of Lisa Persson ’87 Helms Scholarships awarded each year. However, Ms. Kleinman specifies her preference that scholarship awards be for no less than $1,000, as a way of increasing their impact for each recipient, subject to the availability of sufficient funds to support at least one scholarship at this level.
Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of a student to receive this scholarship shall follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. When a student is appointed a Lisa Persson ’87 Helms Scholar for the student’s junior year of undergraduate study, the scholarship may be renewed for the student’s senior year of study, provided that the student remains a full-time student in good standing with the University.
