Jennifer E. Risser ('00) Semester Study Abroad Scholarship Fund
An annual scholarship established by Jennifer E. Risser (‘00) honoring the donor’s parents, James (’77) and Carolyn Hartman, who have always stressed the importance of giving back to the community. Travel is a transformative process, teaching us life lessons that enhance and go beyond what we learn in the classroom.
To qualify as recipients, students must be enrolled in the Valley Scholars or Centennial Scholars programs and be in academic good standing. To be considered for the scholarship, students must submit a short essay (500-700 words) stating their interest in studying abroad and their need for the scholarship. One-week study abroad programs do not qualify. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Executive Director of First-Generation Student Success and will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. In any given year, the Executive Director has the discretion to determine the number of students receiving the scholarship and the amount of the individual awards to the extent the scholarship remains funded by the Donor.
