Witherspoon Family Scholarship Endowment in Support of Summer Research and Scholarly Activity in Honors
An endowed scholarship established by Margaret E. and F. Douglas Witherspoon. To be named a Witherspoon Family Scholar, recipients must be in good academic standing and fall within Track I or Track II of the Honors College and be engaged in any field of study. Students will only be eligible at the conclusion of their first or second year of study at James Madison University. They must demonstrate a strong interest and desire to study within the field of research or scholarly activity proposed by a faculty member. Awards will rotate annually among student recipients in different colleges within the university. A three-year period is required before awards can be made again to students engaged in research or scholarly activity in a particular college. The appointment of Witherspoon Family scholars will be made in a manner determined by the Dean of the Honor’s College in consultation with the Vice Provost for University Programs.
