Guerrier Family Memorial Scholarship Endowment in the Department of History

An endowment created by the Department of History in memory of Steven W. Guerrier (JMU History faculty member 1988-2021) and his daughter Jacqueline D. Guerrier (‘14, ‘18). This scholarship is non-renewable.

This scholarship will provide funds annually for up to two students who will be designated as a Guerrier Family Scholar. Students must be enrolled as a rising junior or senior and majoring in History. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit to a student or students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.30, a GPA in History courses of at least 3.50, and on the basis of an essay addressing how they see the study of history linked to contemporary concerns, public affairs, public policy, and/or law. The scholarship is non-renewable, but students may apply in a subsequent year if they continue to meet the criteria. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Department Head for History, in consultation with a History Department faculty committee, following the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
