Robert J. (Bobby) Morrissey (’80) Memorial Pay It Forward Scholarship Endowment
An endowed scholarship established by Stephen G. (’80) and Nora N. (’82) honoring the memory of the Donor’s college roommate and dear friend, Robert “Bobby” Morrissey. This scholarship is non-renewable.
This endowment will provide financial resources annually for one student enrolled in the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation Management who is or has served as a teaching assistant in the culinary labs course. The Donors direct that as the endowment grows over time, whether by additional gifts or appreciation, additional recipients may be prudently added at the discretion of the Director of the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation Management. In a year when there are no qualifying students, the scholarship will be awarded to another Hart School student(s) with demonstrated interest in the culinary arts. The scholarship is not renewable. The selection of recipients will be made at the discretion of the Director of the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation Management following the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. The recipient(s) will be designated as a Morrissey Culinary Scholar, and the hope is, through actions and words, recipients will be inspired to “Pay It Forward” upon graduation helping fellow JMU students and alumni achieve their fullest potential. With the recipient’s permission, the University agrees to provide the Morrissey family including Bobby’s son, James Morrissey, basic background information regarding recipients of this award.
