Alison Bailey Parker ('12) Memorial Scholarship Endowment in Journalism-Merit

An endowed scholarship established by Barbara and Gilbert Parker in memory of their daughter, Alison Parker, to honor her passion for life and journalism.

The SMAD Scholarship Committee, in consultation with the journalism faculty, will consider awarding one merit-based scholarship to a SMAD major with an outstanding record in journalism. The recipient will be a rising senior who is a full-time student, preferably with a grade-point average of at least 3.0. Following the example of Alison Parker, a strong record of involvement in journalism-related extracurricular activities, such as The Breeze, Bluestone or internships is required. If the Scholarship Committee makes no award in a given year, the income earmarked for the award will be reinvested in the endowment. Scholarship awards will be administered at the discretion of the Director of the School of Media Arts and Design. Beyond this criteria, the selection of recipients will follow the university’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
