Marguerite ‘Peggy’ Crockett Allen (’59) Scholarship Endowment for Valley Scholars
An endowed scholarship established by Ann Harrity Shawver (’89) honoring the memory of the her mother and her passion for education and support of the Valley Scholars Program at James Madison University.
Valley Scholars is a University initiative designed to remove the financial barriers that might otherwise prevent promising students in the Shenandoah Valley with high financial need from attending college. The scholarship is renewable with continued financial need eligibility. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and follow the University’s guidelines for awarding of scholarships.
If the Valley Scholars Program is discontinued, this scholarship will move to the College of Education to be awarded to a student studying Licensure in Elementary Education, with preference to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and follows the University’s guidelines for awarding of scholarships. Scholarships will be renewable for up to three years as long as the student meets this criteria.
