Charles Edwin Good (’62) Scholarship Endowment

An endowed scholarship established by an estate gift from Charles Edwin Good (’62).

To qualify as a Good Scholar, the recipient must be:

1.) An outstanding graduate of Harrisonburg High School (HHS) in Harrisonburg, Virginia

2.) Enrolled as a full time, incoming freshman student at James Madison University

Once a student is named a Good Scholar, this scholarship may be renewed for up to three consecutive years if the recipient remains in good standing and maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. If this requirement is not met, a new incoming freshman recipient will be selected. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of Good Scholars will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.

Mr. Good’s goal in making this gift is to provide sufficient resources to pay full in-state tuition and fees for one academic year at James Madison University, or as high a proportion of that expense as the size of his gift permits. If expendable earnings are sufficient, an additional full in-state tuition and fees scholarship shall be awarded to another recipient. If excess funds are available after awarding one or two full scholarships, those additional funds shall be offered as scholarships to additional students based on the above mentioned criteria.
