Elizabeth Houser-Betty Bauserman Andrews Endowment for Scholarships in Education
An endowed scholarship established with a gift from Betty Bauserman Andrews ’58. This scholarship will provide funds annually to outstanding undergraduate students in the College of Education at James Madison University. The appointment of individual students as Houser-Andrews Scholars shall follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of the scholarships; provided, however, that the following criteria shall guide the selection process:
Specifically: It is the Donor’s specific intention by this gift to influence one (or more) student(s) who have been offered admission to make the decision to attend James Madison University. For this reason, the parties here note that the selection of Houser-Andrews Scholars must be made and announced early enough in the spring each year so this scholarship may fulfill its purpose and serve to influence the decision(s) by accepted student(s) to attend the university. To be considered for this scholarship, a student who has been offered admission to the College of Education must demonstrate a cumulative grade point average in high school of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale). Once appointed a Houser-Andrews Scholar, a student must maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average to remain eligible for this scholarship which may be renewed for up to four academic years beyond the first year of study.
