College of Arts and Letters Opportunity Scholarship

Scholarships to support students who are participating in study abroad/study away, research, internships and other opportunities that advance students’ academic and professional goals. Eligibility requirements are: JMU undergraduate student with a College of Arts and Letters major; earned at least 12 credit hours at JMU and demonstrated financial need.

Scholarship selection shall be made at the discretion of the Dean for the College of Arts and Letters or designee.

Applicants will need to complete the Budget Form found on “CAL’s scholarship website”

  1. Provide a short description of the proposed opportunity and how it will advance your academic and professional goals.
  2. Provide a brief synopsis of when and how the funding will be used.
  3. Please upload your completed Budget Form found on the scholarship description website.
  4. Provide the contact information for two references with name, e-mail address, phone number, and relationship to you. References can be faculty members, advisors, internship coordinators, employers, or others who can provide insights into your academic and professional work. At least one reference should be able to speak directly to the proposed opportunity (e.g., director of your study abroad program or internship supervisor).
