J. Edgar Anderson Endowed String Music Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established in memory of Mr. J. Edgar Anderson, Professor Emeritus of Music at JMU. The scholarship is restricted to a JMU music student majoring in “string” music. The “string” music faculty should evaluate and recommend a candidate to the Office of Financial Aid no later than May 31st for awarding a scholarship in the coming school year. If no one qualifies for the scholarship in any given year, the scholarship award can be used for financial support of the “string” music curriculum. The Music Department Head and the string faculty need prior approval from the JMU Foundation President in order to use the funds for financial support. The recipient(s) financial need should be considered, however, financial need is not required. The recipient(s) should be in good standing with the university and demonstrate a strong interest in “string” music.
