David Goodson Gill (‘76) Memorial Scholarship Endowment in the School of Art, Design and Art History
An endowed scholarship established by Claudia Tyner Offutt Gill in memory of David Goodson Gill (’76).
The scholarship will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the art education licensure program and/or have declared a major in art education as an incoming student, who are residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia with preference to those whose primary residence is in Prince William County, VA or Arlington County, VA, and who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria and may be renewed up to 3.5 years, allowing for the extra semester that it often takes for student teaching. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Director of the School of Art, Design and Art History following the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
A gift to the expendable account will provide a scholarship of $2,000 each year over the first three years with the first award made for academic year 2022-2023. Scholarships from the expendable gift are renewable. While the expendable is being funded by the Donor, there will be no allocation from the endowment. As the endowment grows, the number of students receiving scholarships may be increased.
