Dr. Clarence R. Geier Endowed Scholarship in Anthropology

An endowed scholarship established by Clarence R. and Deane C. Geier. To be eligible for this scholarship, recipients must be a rising senior majoring in Anthropology or one of its sub-fields. While student G.P.A. can be one factor in consideration, it is not to be the sole or determining criteria. Geier Scholars will truly exhibit a passion for anthropology as evidenced through their enthusiasm, commitment and skills to pursue a career in some area of anthropology or an area of its application.

Geier Scholarship recipients will be nominated by faculty and selected by committee to include the program coordinator and faculty from each of the Anthropology Program sub-areas with the Department Chair as an ex-officio member. The Geier Scholarship shall be distributed the fall term of the recipient’s senior year. If, in the opinion of the faculty committee, there is no qualified candidate for the award the available scholarship funds will be reinvested in the endowment. Beyond these criteria, the appointment will follow the university’s guidelines for awarding scholarships.
