Agness S. Dingledine Memorial Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established in memory of Agness S. Dingledine to provide an annual scholarship to a deserving undergraduate student selected by the Office of Financial Aid. This scholarship is intended to benefit a JMU junior or senior with an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0. Also, the recipient must be a JMU legacy (either mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, sister, or brother must be an alumnus of JMU or Madison College) or a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The recipient should also exhibit strong leadership qualities and have a desire to enter a profession that directly serves others. All scholarship applicants must complete an essay answering the following questions:

a) What are your goals in life?
b) How has your character, experiences, leadership roles, and activities prepared you for attaining your goals?
c) Agness Dingledine, known affectionately as “Mama Ding”, dedicated her life to serving others. How do you plan to serve others in your lifetime?
d) What would it mean to you to be the recipient of the Agness S. Dingledine Scholarship?

Any applications received without the questions answered will not be considered in the final selection. JMU Financial Aid Office will administer this scholarship.
