Class of 1959 Endowed Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established by the Class of 1959 to provide financial assistance for students entering their freshman year at the University with demonstrated financial need and strong credentials in academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and community service. The appointment of a student as a Class of 1959 Scholar shall follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships; provided, however, that the following criteria shall be part of the decision-making process. Specifically:

A first priority is focused on students with financial need as determined by the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships; and, a second priority is focused on eligible students’ academic performance, extra-curricular achievements, and community service.

The Class of 1959 Scholar will be selected as an entering freshman and will continue to receive this scholarship for as long as the student (a) maintains a full-time status at the University and (b) continues to meet the scholarship’s requirements. In the event that the student scholar fails at any time to meet the scholarship’s requirements or, upon the completion of the student scholar’s studies at the University then a new entering freshman student will be selected for this scholarship.

It is the intention of the Class of 1959 that, as the value of this scholarship’s endowment grows, more than one student may hold this scholarship in a given year; provided, however that, the minimum amount awarded for each scholarship would be at least $1,000 and the maximum number of scholarships awarded in a given years would be three.
