Frank A. Palocsay Memorial Scholarship Endowment in Chemistry

An endowed scholarship established with a gift by Dr. Susan W. Palocsay in memory of her husband, Frank A. Palocsay. This endowment will provide financial resources annually to one (or more) undergraduate student(s) majoring in Chemistry. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be in excellent standing with both the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry – as to its requirements for Chemistry majors – and, the University generally. In addition, a student must be active in undergraduate research in a selected area of chemistry, under the guidance of a faculty advisor, during the term of the scholarship. The selection of a Frank A. Palocsay Memorial Scholar shall be made in a manner determined by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, in consultation with the Department Head and the Dean for the College of Science and Mathematics (or its successor college). Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of a student to receive this scholarship shall follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. When a student is appointed a Frank A. Palocsay Memorial Scholar, the scholarship may be renewed for one (or more) subsequent academic year(s) – through completion of the student’s senior year of academic studies – provided that the student remains a full-time student in excellent standing with the University and is involved in undergraduate chemical research.
