An endowed scholarship established by Dr. Carl G. Droms.

The Joan and Ernest Droms Memorial Scholarship Endowment for Mathematics will provide funds annually for one scholarship recipient. To be eligible for appointment as a Droms Scholar, a student must be a rising senior majoring in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics. Students must also have expressed a desire to pursue a masters in a related area of study. Students studying in Mathematics Education will not be eligible to receive this award. The selection of Droms Scholars shall be made in a manner determined at the discretion of the head of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics in partnership with Faculty teaching in Mathematics and Statistics.

The first award will be for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Donor directs that as the endowment grows over time, whether by additional gifts or appreciation, it may be appropriate to add one additional recipient. The decision to add an additional recipient will be made with the utmost prudence at the discretion of the head of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. The Donor directs that an additional scholarship can be awarded, but only if the first award amount is greater than the cost of one semester of in-state tuition.
