Eugene Duffer Foundation and Educational Trust Endowed Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established by the Eugene Duffer Foundation and Educational Trust to provide funds for a scholarship with the following criteria:
Every student (freshman, transfer student, continuing student, or graduate student) who is a resident of Lancaster County, Virginia and in good academic standing with the University will be eligible for this scholarship, which can (but is not required) be renewed from year to year for as long as recipients continue to meet these criteria.

The Donor believes that encouragement and motivation accompany an award of any size to any student. His preference, therefore, is that scholarship awards be for no less than $1,000 each for as many students as possible subject to the availability of sufficient funds to support at least one scholarship at the level. Ideally, every qualifying student would receive an award, with all awards being of the same approximate size. The selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, which will have the discretion to make larger awards for students with significant financial need and to reduce or withhold awards for students who are receiving other financial assistance. Beyond these criteria, the appointment of Duffer Scholars will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
