Matthew D. Horning Memorial Scholarship Endowment

An endowed scholarship established by family and friends to support a scholarship in memory of Matthew Douglas Horning ’97, following his death on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. This scholarship is intended to be a tuition scholarship to benefit a JMU student who merits the following criteria: a New Jersey resident, demonstrates financial need, a strong desire to attend JMU, and seriousness about his/her chosen area of study not necessarily reflected in overall class standing or standardized test scores. If at any time the student recipient fails to meet the requirements or when the student graduates, a new student will be selected based on the established criteria. The fund will provide one or more out-of-state full tuition scholarships per academic year.
