Julie Berkowitz ’86 Newman Scholarship Endowment in Public Health

Established by Julie Berkowitz ’86 Newman. It is Mrs. Newman’s intent to encourage an inter-disciplinary view of health studies beyond delivery – economic impact, law, regulatory environment, etc. She desires to support the best and brightest students in the arena of Public Health. Therefore, the scholarship should be awarded to a rising senior with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) at JMU of 3.5 with preference being given to individuals active in public health (policy and/or administration). The selection of a student as a Newman Scholar will be administered in a manner determined at the discretion of the Department Head for Health Sciences. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of a Newman Scholar will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
