Vera Melone Music Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established on January 5, 1989 by Mr. George Conrad, in honor of his wife, Vera Melone, who taught organ and piano at JMU from 1933 to 1937. The endowed music scholarship criteria is as follows: Recipient must be in good standing with a 2.0 GPA or above determined annually prior to the award; must be classified as a full-time student at all times during receivership of the scholarship award. Full-time student means being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester; Must be deserving and serious regarding the study of music. The JMU Department of Music Scholarship committee, after appropriate review of student applications, shall recommend to the student financial aid committee through the Music Department head, the scholarship recipient on an annual basis.
