Frank and Mary Rita Murphy Scholarship in Social Work

An annual scholarship established by Ellen M. Murphy to honor her parents Frank and Mary Rita Murphy.

It is the Donor’s desire to provide financial resources annually to one or more students who will be in their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must (a) have a declared major in Social Work; (b) have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) at James Madison University; and © have a demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, with preference given to underrepresented students.

The selection of Murphy Scholars will be made each year in a manner determined by the Academic Unit Head for Social Work. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of students to receive these scholarships will follow the guidelines of the University for awarding of scholarships.
