Davis Family Scholarship Endowment

An endowed scholarship established by Jane J. Davis with a gift to the James Madison University Foundation, Inc. for the benefit of James Madison University.

Annual allocations from the endowment will provide a scholarship to a graduate student pursuing their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Counselor Education, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, who demonstrates financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The scholarship is renewable for two years as long as the recipient remains enrolled in the program, continues to demonstrate financial need, and is in academic good standing.

Should the Davis Family Scholarship Master’s recipient choose to continue their education and subsequently pursue their Doctoral License at the University, the scholarship award will be renewable for an additional three years, as long as the recipient remains enrolled in the program, continues to demonstrate financial need, and is in academic good standing. It is the Donor’s intent that the Davis Family Scholarship be used to recruit and retain outstanding Graduate Psychology students working toward becoming licensed, professional counselors. As the endowment grows, additional recipients may be prudently added if the individual award exceeds the cost of tuition.

Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Academic Unit Head for Graduate Psychology following the University’s guidelines for awarding scholarships. While the expendable is being funded by the Donor, no allocation will be made from the endowment.
