JB Hancock ('67) Scholarship Endowment for Writing and New Media Communication
An endowed scholarship established by Ms. Janice ‘JB’ Hancock (’67) for the benefit of The School of Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication at James Madison University. This scholarship is non-renewable.
This scholarship will provide funds to support an annual scholarship for one or more JMU students who:
- are currently enrolled in either full or part time undergraduate studies at JMU, and who will be so enrolled at the time of the award; - are declared WRTC majors at the sophomore, junior, or senior level; and - have created an outstanding piece of writing or new media communication that demonstrates both the importance of and excellence in reaching out to audiences and communicating clearly and responsibly as well as factually and persuasively.The donor prefers that this scholarship is not renewable and once a student has been awarded this scholarship, they are not eligible to receive it again. The donor prefers a minimum of $1,000 be awarded to each scholarship recipient, subject to the availability of sufficient funds to support at least one scholarship at this level. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Director of The School of Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication, but in accordance with the spirit of this gift agreement. Beyond the above criteria, the selection of students to receive this scholarship shall follow the university’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
