Elizabeth F. Walton Memorial Scholarship Endowment in the Intelligence Analysis Program
An endowed scholarship established by Timothy R. Walton to honor the memory of Dr. Walton’s wife, Elizabeth Walton.
The scholarship is designed to reduce the financial concerns of those who have the potential to follow in her footsteps. Through this fund, the Donor intends to provide the financial resources annually for students meeting the following criteria:
- Student must be enrolled in the Intelligence Analysis Program and demonstrate a desire to have a career in intelligence analysis. - Student must write an essay explaining their desire for a career in intelligence analysis. - Student must maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA. - Student must demonstrate *financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.Preference will be given to a student from an underrepresented population within the Intelligence Analysis Program. The recipient will be a rising Junior and the scholarship is automatically renewed the student’s Senior year as long as the criteria continues to be met. (Additional funding will provide the financial resources annually in years 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 for two scholarship recipients, a junior and a senior who meet the criteria set forth in the original agreement). Walton Scholarship awards will be made at the discretion of the Dean of the College of Integrated Science and Engineering, in consultation with the College of Integrated Science and Engineering faculty. Beyond these criteria, the selection of the scholarship recipients will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
*Financial need will be determined at the time of the selection process and not at the time of disbursement. If the student demonstrates financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the time of selection, then the student will be deemed to have met the financial need criteria. No further review of financial need is required. The student will qualify for automatic renewal in the senior year without regard to financial need as long as the other criteria continues to be met.
