GYO Paraprofessional Teaching Fellows

For students from the following districts: Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, Frederick County, Warren County, Page County, Portsmouth City, Petersburg City, and Virginia Beach City the GYO Paraprofessional Teaching Fellows program supports part-time students who are interested in earning a Bachelor of Individualized Study in the areas of Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Elementary Education and become credentialed teachers. In exchange for teaching 2 years in one of the districts identified as part of this initiative, you would receive funding that would cover your tuition and comprehensive fees. This should be considered a future loan forgiveness program instead of a traditional scholarship. Funding is established with recurring legislative appropriations in the biennium budget from the Virginia General Assembly, which is subject to change.
