An endowed scholarship established by Dr. Alexander L. and Dr. Joanne V. Gabbin.
Donor Criteria
Restrictions
• Required essay of 250 words or less explaining a demonstrated record of leadership and/or service to African American culture or a multicultural community along with how diversity has impacted the student personally and how the student plans to engage in the JMU community.
• Plans to pursue a major in the College of Business.
• Member of the Honors Program.
Administration
• Renewable as long as the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
• Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Vice President for Enrollment Management or designee and will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. The Vice President for Enrollment Management, or designee, will convene a selection committee comprising: Director of Admissions or designee; Director of the Center for Multicultural Student Services or designee; Director of the African, African American, and Diaspora (AAAD) Studies Center or designee; and AVP for Constituent Engagement or designee.
