Harrell Scholarship Endowment

An endowed scholarship established by the Universal Corporation, pursuant to its Director’s Charitable Award Program.The scholarship is named for Henry H. Harrell, who served as CEO of Universal Corporation for many years, retiring in 2003.

The purpose of the Harrell Scholarship Endowment to help attract to James Madison University those young men and women who will distinguish themselves as leaders on campus and later as alumni. Annual allocations from the endowment will provide financial resources for an incoming first year student who demonstrates academic superiority, outstanding character, an attractive and well-rounded personality, and clear indications of leadership potential. The scholarship is renewable for the duration of the recipient’s enrollment at the University as long as the student maintains academic good standing . Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
