Two-Year College Transfer Grant - Fall Semester
If you obtained your associate’s degree from a Virginia Community College with a 3.0 GPA and meet the following criteria, you may apply to be considered for the Two-Year College Transfer Grant:
• Be a first-time entering freshman (at any institution) no earlier than fall 2007
• Be an undergraduate in-state student
• Be a Virginia resident (certain requirements apply)
• Be in compliance with federal Selective Service registration requirements
• Enroll into JMU the fall or spring immediately following completion of an associate degree
• Enroll full-time into a degree program
• Apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application with a Student Aid Index of 15,000 or less
An official, final transcript must be sent from your community college to the JMU Office of Admissions for consideration for the grant.

- Semester of Initial Enrollment at the Two-Year College (e.g. Fall 2022)
- To be eligible for the grant, you must have received your Associate's Degree. Have you obtained your Associate's Degree from the school listed above?
- Semester Completed Associate Degree (e.g. Fall 2025)
- To be eligible for the grant, you must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for your Associate's Degree. Please provide your cumulative GPA at the time your Associates Degree was obtained.
- To be eligible for the grant, your Official final transcript must show your Associate's Degree has been conferred. Have you requested your Official transcript be sent from your Community College to the JMU Office of Admissions?
- To be eligible for the grant, the Student Aid Index calculated from your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the VASA (Virginia Alternative State Aid Application - if ineligible to file a FAFSA) must be 15,000 or less. Have you filed the appropriate aid application prior to submitting this application?
