Centennial Scholars Program

The Centennial Scholars Program provides financial assistance and a multi-level academic support network, to retain eligible under-represented students.

We believe that qualified and deserving students who are residents of Virginia, PELL eligible and not able to finance the cost of attending college, should have the opportunity to graduate from a higher-education institution. Through the program we provide students a holistic support system which includes academic support, peer mentoring, interaction with faculty mentors, cultural enrichment activities and career-oriented workshops throughout their undergraduate career. The program requires students to maintain a 3.0 GPA, perform community service and participate in study hall sessions, small group meetings with their mentor and other campus activities.

The financial aid package is in the form of grants that covers tuition and standard room and board rates including meals. Incoming freshmen receive financial assistance for a maximum of four years and incoming transfer students a maximum of two years.
