Dr. Jay D. Kain Art Education Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established by Karin Ellis to honor Dr. Jay D. Kain, former director of the School of Art, Design and Art History at JMU. This scholarship is intended to benefit a rising JMU junior or senior studying in the art education program in the School of Art, Design and Art History . The recipient must exhibit outstanding academic scholarship, have a 3.0 grade point average and complete an optional one-page application provided by the School of Art, Design and Art History including a short essay discussing their expected career path in art education and a letter of recommendation from a JMU faculty member or high school art teacher. The recipient will receive the scholarship for one year and is eligible to reapply in subsequent years. If at any time the student recipient fails to meet the requirements, a new student will be selected based on the established criteria. The Scholarship Committee in the School of Art, Design and Art History will select the student recipient.
